Brandon Sturgis
Fractional Brand Director

Brand Leadership when you need it.

Senior brand expertise without the overhead, the hiring process, or the long-term commitment.

The Why

Why Fractional?

Most growing businesses don't need a full-time Chief Brand Officer. They need serious brand thinking, applied at the right moment, by someone who's done it before.

The fractional model gives you a senior brand leader embedded in your business - setting strategy, guiding decisions, directing creative - without the cost of a full-time executive. No lengthy search. No ongoing overhead. Just the work.

Immediate Access

No recruiting cycle. Work begins within days.

Senior-Level Thinking

Strategy from someone who has built and reposisioned brands.

Cost Efficient

Executive-caliber output without the fully-loaded salary.

Flexible

Scale the engagement to your budget, timeline, and the work required.

Objective

An outside perspective, free of internal politics, is often exactly what the work needs.

The How

4 ways i work with businesses

Fractional Brand Director

Your embedded brand leader: setting direction, overseeing creative, managing partners, and keeping every touchpoint aligned. Right for companies ready to take the brand seriously without a full-time hire.

Brand Strategy & Architecture

Defining what you stand for, who you're for, and how everything connects. The foundation EVERYTHING else is built on, and documented in a way your team can actually use.

Brand Audit / Therapy

The diagnosis before the prescription. I'll take stock of where your brand stands today, identify what's broken or misaligned, and get clear on what needs to change before committing to anything bigger.

Brand Positioning & Messaging

If your team struggles to articulate what makes you different, or if your messaging sounds like everyone else in your category...this is where we start. The output is language your business can use everywhere: website, sales, pitches, and beyond.

The When

Is this the right moment?

Fractional brand leadership works best at inflection points - when the stakes are higher and the cost of getting the brand wrong is real.

Growth & New Markets

Scaling into new audiences or geographies exposes brand gaps fast. If your brand was built for an earlier version of your company, it may be working against you now.

Competition & Differentiation

When the market gets crowded, brand determines whether you're a commodity or a category leader. Strategic clarity here pays for itself.

Building a Team

Before you hire a marketing team, customer service team, or creative agency, you need to know what you stand for and what you're asking them to execute. Brand strategy is the brief everything else runs on.

Transition - M&A, Exit, or Pivot

The story your company used to tell no longer fits the company you're becoming. The window to get the new story right is narrow and this is not the moment to figure it out as you go.

Serious About Building a Brand

You know brand matters. You're just not sure where to start or who to trust with it. That's a perfectly valid starting point and a great reason to have a conversation.

Post-Funding / Pre-Scale

You just closed a round. Now you need to show up credibly before you've had time to build a full team. This is one of the highest-leverage moments for fractional engagement.

The How...again

How Engagements work

I work with a small number of clients at a time. Sometimes only one. That's by design. Every engagement gets real attention. Rates are discussed directly in our first conversation, based on scope.

Retainer

Ongoing brand leadership: a set number of days per month, sustained over time. Right for businesses that need continuous strategic support, not a one-time fix. Most retainers run a minimum of 3 months.

Hybrid

Start with a defined project, transition into an ongoing retainer as the work develops. A lower-risk entry point and how most long-term relationships begin.

Project-Based

A defined scope, timeline, and deliverable. Right for a specific need: a brand audit, a positioning sprint, a messaging framework. Most projects run 4 to 8 weeks. Minimum engagement is 4 weeks.

The Who

Who I've Worked With

I've worked with founder-led businesses, start-ups, M&As, agencies, and scaling teams across consumer goods, nanotechnology, fitness, restaurants, breweries, real estate, and lifestyle industries. The common thread isn't the sector. It's the moment: companies where brand has become a real business problem, not just a design question.

Let's talk
